Tennessee, although well known for being the mecca of country music, is becoming a popular spot for advanced education. The University of Tennessee system, which is governed by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, is the states only public school system. The public school system is comprised of four-year universities, community colleges and plenty of trade schools, which are all located throughout Tennessee. In addition to the state schools, private colleges also make their home in Tennessee. Enrolling more than 12,000 students, Vanderbilt University is the largest private school in the state. For those with busy weekly schedules, full time jobs, or kids at home, almost all of Tennessee’s schools, both private and public, offer web based learning which allows folks to advance their studies from the comfort of home at their own pace.
